The word ‘prom’ is now emerging among Chapin huskies! It is the time of the year where girls wear colorful gowns and boys wear fitted tuxedos to pose for those awkward pictures that will later be cherished in their upcoming years, and for the rest of their lives.
This year the Chapin prom falls on April 29 with a somewhat exciting theme to encourage students to attend. Promposals are also part of the momentous time, the biggest time of year where many guys seem to get the most creative.
Now prom has been occurring for many years, tracing back to the 19th century where American universities held “promenades” for each year’s graduating class. With the growing teenageinfluence slowly becoming of importance, proms were centered upon the younger generation in the 1940s and 1950s.
Movies have even become centered around this prom fixture in recent movies such as “Mean Girls,” “Ten Things I Hate About You,” and “High School Musical,” and have also been featured in some old, classic movies such as “Footloose,” “Back to the Future,” and “Grease.
Nonetheless, prom is certainly a big memory to look forward to during your high school years. This year the 2017 Chapin High School prom theme is Masquerade, with themed decorations, such as masks and colors such as black, red, and white. For seniors, this dance is certainly going to be special as it is the last dance of their high school years. Prom will put a capstone on their final days as a Husky.
Prom will be on April 29th at El Maida Shrine beginning at eight o’clock and ending at the stroke of midnight. This night will certainly be one to remember.
